yes, this is a great hire for facebook. growing, adding talent == good. but i’m not sure i agree with mr. riley RE:
It’s another great catch for Facebook from Google and continues the “Facebook Problem” for Google which we wrote about in November.
google has been around for 5 or 6 or 7 years (whatever) and some of the people that are leaving and going to facebook have had their run. they have contributed ideas and frankly, built one hell of a company. the problem? i’d bet that some have, well, run out of ideas. and this is where i think it’s a good thing for google - they now have the chance to bring in new talent, new ideas and a new prospective that can only help.
that’s not to say that anyone fb hires away from google won’t help fb, i’m sure they will, but it’s way to early to say it’ll hurt google. i’m a big fan of new blood and i for one am looking forward to see what some new, young blood can do with google.
What’s Your Homepage?
After probably 12+ years of using Yahoo! as my homepage, I decided today that I’m going to try something else. I stare at the page multiple times everyday, but I realized I don’t actually find any useful or interesting information there. Ever. It’s not just the clutter (which has been an issue for years). It’s that I don’t really like the editorial direction that they’re taking lately… focusing on gossip and light “lifestyle” type of news. I apologize to the people I know who work on it, but it’s really a mess and only seems to be getting worse from my perspective. Most likely, I just don’t fit the demographic they’re targeting. I don’t like My Yahoo! either.
Anyway, I’m moving on. What’s your homepage of choice? I’m leaning towards iGoogle, but have also heard decent things about Netvibes, PageFlakes, and others. What do you recommend?
netvibes is my startpage of choice.
isn’t it victory from the jaws of defeat? what a moron.
